Comec VPT130 Pressure Tester for Cylinder Heads and Blocks

The VPT130 is a tank-style pressure tester designed to detect cracks, leaks, and structural failures in cylinder heads and engine blocks via immersion in hot water. By sealing the coolant / water jackets and then pressurizing the casting while submerged, it reveals even small leaks visually via escaping air bubbles — a reliable method for quality assurance before re-assembly.

Built from stainless steel with a well-insulated tank and heavy-duty construction, the VPT130 is engineered to be both user-friendly and effective. Dual electric heating elements bring the water up to test temperature, while a rotatable cradle supports the head/block and enables full-rotation inspection for surface cracks.

Key Features

  • Immersion-style hot-water leak detection — Submerging heads or blocks in hot water and pressurizing them reveals even minor leaks as visible bubbles, improving detection reliability over dry air-only testing.
  • Stainless-steel, insulated tank with dual heaters — The tank and lid are stainless and insulated; two 4.5 kW heating elements bring 490 L of water up to the working temperature (adjustable between 30–90 °C).
  • Rotatable cradle with elevation control — Supports cylinder heads or blocks up to ~1200 × 350 × 300 mm; cradle rotates during inspection and raises/lowers for easy loading/unloading.
  • Sufficient capacity for many automotive and light-truck heads / blocks — With the specified maximum head size capacity, the VPT130 suits most standard car and light-duty engine work.
  • Shop-ready setup with accessories included — Comes with support parallels (flat and wedge-type), Plexiglas plates, rubber sheets, locking plates and required hardware to seal and test a variety of head/block shapes.

Ready to Make the Right Equipment Choice?

Built on Real Engine-Rebuilding Experience

Decades before today’s engine shops trusted our equipment, Tony was already deep in the craft — rebuilding motors, machining blocks, and pushing for better precision.

A local newspaper once featured him as a standout young machinist, noting his drive, attention to detail, and obsession with doing things the right way. That same passion would eventually shape our company’s values.

Today, that commitment lives on in every machine we sell, every customer we support, and every shop we help succeed.
