Comec RP1400.CNC Cylinder Head and Block Resurfacing Machine

The RP1400.CNC is a state-of-the-art resurfacing machine built for cylinder heads, engine blocks, and virtually any flat surface where precision flatness and surface contact accuracy are required — for cars, trucks, light-duty to heavy-duty engines.

It combines advanced automation with robust mechanical build: a CNC-controlled, brushless-motor driven milling plate, linear guides and ball-screw feeds, and an integrated laser surface-scanner. The scanner maps the surface profile of the head or block, and then the machine automatically mills the surface to deliver a perfectly flat finish, minimizing manual setup and operator error.

Because of its versatility (cast-iron or aluminum heads/blocks, standard or pre-chamber diesel heads, etc.), the RP1400.CNC is ideal for shops wanting a high-precision, high-repeatability resurfacer that covers a wide variety of engine work without needing multiple machines.

Key Features

  • CNC-Controlled Milling with Brushless Motor — The milling cutter plate is positioned and driven via CNC control + inverter, giving smooth, precise control on spindle speed and table feed.
  • Integrated Laser Surface Scanner (“Smart Resurfacer”) — Before milling, the RP1400.CNC scans the surface to record its profile, and uses that data to automatically adjust the milling path — delivering accurate, repeatable surfacing with minimal operator work.
  • 405 mm Milling Plate (CBN/PCD tooling) — The standard 405 mm (16″) milling plate accepts CBN/PCD inserts suitable for both cast-iron and aluminum surfaces (including heads with pre-chambers), giving flexibility across a wide range of engine types.
  • Wide Work Capacity & Large Table Travel — Able to handle large heads and blocks: table travel up to 1,410 mm; max workpiece length ~1,195 mm; working width up to 405 mm; height clearance from 170 mm up to 690 mm.
  • Variable Spindle & Feed Speeds — Spindle rotation speed 300–1,200 RPM, variable table feed up to 1,500 mm/min — letting you fine-tune cutting parameters for surface finish, material, or head/block size.
  • User-Friendly CNC Interface & Automation — Industrial touchscreen control panel, automatic cycles, database of working cycles (customizable), estimated cycle-time display — making the machine efficient and easier to operate even under repeated use.

Ready to Make the Right Equipment Choice?

Built on Real Engine-Rebuilding Experience

Decades before today’s engine shops trusted our equipment, Tony was already deep in the craft — rebuilding motors, machining blocks, and pushing for better precision.

A local newspaper once featured him as a standout young machinist, noting his drive, attention to detail, and obsession with doing things the right way. That same passion would eventually shape our company’s values.

Today, that commitment lives on in every machine we sell, every customer we support, and every shop we help succeed.
