Comec LBM950 Line Boring Machine for Cylinder Heads and Blocks

The Comec LBM950 is a CNC horizontal line-boring machine designed to recondition bearing and housing seats in both cylinder heads (camshaft housings) and engine blocks (crankshaft / main-bearing seats) for cars and light trucks.

What makes the LBM950 stand out is its chrome-bar drive system: a linear ball-bearing feed combined with a belt-driven rotation system, delivering smooth, precise, and stable boring. The combination of feed + rotation reduces chatter and improves accuracy — critical when re-boring cam journals or main bearings to factory specs.

The machine’s intuitive operation — via touchscreen control panel + electronic handwheel — simplifies setup and makes it practical even for smaller shops that do cylinder-head or block work in-house. Universal clamping fixtures and moveable supporting arms allow a wide range of head and block sizes to be handled.

Key Features

  • Boring Range & Capacity — Accepts bar/tooling for diameters Ø 24–85 mm, covering most camshaft journals and main bearing/seat sizes typical to auto/light-truck engines.
  • CNC Control + Touchscreen Interface — All feed/rotation and cycle parameters are managed via a modern touchscreen panel (plus electronic handwheel), enabling both manual and automatic cycles.
  • Rigid Chrome-Bar Drive Design — Boring bar is supported by three movable, rigid support arms for stability under cut; linear-guide feed and belt-drive rotation ensure smooth, precise boring without vibration.
  • Universal Clamping Fixtures — Comes with fixtures for cylinder heads and blocks, so you can swap between jobs without needing custom jigs for each engine type.
  • Wide Workpiece Size Envelope — Accepts heads/blocks up to 810 mm length and 300 mm width — enough room for many inline and small-block V-style engines.
  • Smooth & Controllable Operation — Spindle/bar speed variable 0–400 rpm; traverse up to 5000 mm/min — giving flexibility whether you’re rough boring or finishing to tight tolerance.

Ready to Make the Right Equipment Choice?

Built on Real Engine-Rebuilding Experience

Decades before today’s engine shops trusted our equipment, Tony was already deep in the craft — rebuilding motors, machining blocks, and pushing for better precision.

A local newspaper once featured him as a standout young machinist, noting his drive, attention to detail, and obsession with doing things the right way. That same passion would eventually shape our company’s values.

Today, that commitment lives on in every machine we sell, every customer we support, and every shop we help succeed.
